Elongated, cylindrical body with no dorsal spines, 16-20 dorsal soft rays, and 19-23 anal soft rays. Jaw teeth are large and widely spaced, with the lower jaw slightly longer than the upper. Juveniles have a greatly elongated jaw and lack the black posterior dorsal-fin lobe. Max length: 104 cm TL
