Karadeniz Technical University, which was established on May 20, 1955 and launched education in 1963, provides education in the fields of technical sciences, natural sciences, humanities, and health sciences. In addition, it educates qualified and professional individuals for the future with vocational colleges, which are one of the most important educational institutions that will meet the technical needs of our city, region, and country. Likewise, it prepares highly qualified individuals and academic staff for the future through its graduate schools in line with the needs of Türkiye.

Rich and exemplary library, classrooms, and laboratories, equipped with modern and advanced technology, are offered to students with all their facilities. By keeping up with the changing conditions, needs of the information age, and demanding environments, KTU aims to teach our students to reach information in the easiest way, to use the information they have acquired in the best way for the benefit of society and humanity, and to produce new information using this information.

Today, KTU is one of the leading universities in Türkiye with 12 faculties, 6 graduate schools, 1 school, and 8 vocational schools. This leading university has a strong academic staff of 2100 people, more than 30 thousand students from 81 provinces and many different countries, and more than 250 thousand graduates. Considering all these, KTU is an ecole with its deep-rooted history, well-established traditions, educational experience, infrastructure, excellent campus, and qualified teaching and research staff.

Project Partner - Varna-Bulgaria

Institute of Fish Resources, Department of Hydrobiology and Ichthyology (IFR)

The Institute of Fish Resources, IFR - Varna, at the Agricultural Academy (SAA), was established in 1932 as a Marine Biological Station with an Aquarium, and over the years has passed through a different departmental affiliation.

The main activities of IFR - Varna include scientific and applied services, fish stocks studies in the Black Sea and monitoring of the dynamics and structure of the food base of industrial marine fish species.

The educational activity of IFR - Varna includes student internships at Sofia University, Thracian University, Plovdiv University and Technical University - Varna, and through the established Youth Consultative - Information Center for Aquarists (contact office of В.ЕN.A - Thessaloniki, Greece) conduct trainings and courses in the field of fisheries and aquaculture.

Ecological Nonguvermental Organization Mare Nostrum (MARE NOSTRUM)

Mare Nostrum is one of the most active environmental NGOs in Constanța, Romania. Since 1994, it has promoted environmental awareness and respect, implementing projects each year to support Constanța’s development as a modern European city.

All projects are designed in line with clear strategic directions and well-defined objectives, including education for sustainable development, marine and coastal biodiversity conservation, sustainable natural resource management, and influencing public policies related to urban governance. Through these efforts, a strong framework for environmentally responsible actions is established, contributing to the long-term protection and resilience of the Black Sea ecosystem.
